Are you an experienced Park and Recreation Supervisor, capable of leading a team and providing exceptional customer service to our residents and guests? The supervisor oversees and coordinates all maintenance and operations at Twin Lakes Regional Sports Complex, Tatum Ridge School, Oak Park School Multipurpose Complex, Skye Ranch School, and Glebe Park locations. The amenities at these facilities include youth baseball fields, soccer fields, football fields, multi-purpose fields, artificial turf fields, pickleball courts, and tennis courts.
If selected, you will collaborate with the rest of the Sports Tourism, Facilities, & Programs division on best practices, renovations, and reservation support to ensure athletic fields and facilities are kept in excellent condition, maintaining structural and aesthetic integrity.About the Position
In this role you will...
General Facility Maintenance
+ Develop maintenance programs that incorporate department standards as well as special considerations for assigned sites.
+ Trains staff in proper turf and field maintenance practices, procedures, general upkeep, and maintenance of facilities at the sites.
+ Ensures the structural and aesthetic integrity of all athletic fields (Natural and Artificial), courts, and the facilities at the sites. Applies professional turf grass standards to determine the effectiveness of the maintenance program and operation.
+ Conducts routine maintenance and safety inspections of athletic fields, courts, and facilities at the sites.
+ Identifies necessary repair/maintenance needs for park amenities such as parking lots, restrooms, playgrounds, etc., and coordinates with appropriate division to resolve.
+ Coordinates with Division’s IPM and Renovations staff on scheduling of fertilizations, applications of herbicides and insecticides, and other cultural practices.
+ Monitors the performance of independent contractors and vendors.
+ Maintains, reviews, and summarizes daily activity logs/work orders for crews.
+ Reviews and monitors safety equipment, instructs crews in proper work methods and corrects safety procedures.
+ Supports Division’s Renovations staff with annual renovation projects within the sites.
+ Coordinates and ensures appropriate supply of work material, tracks and maintains store inventories/rolling warehouse
+ Responsible for all fleet and fixed assets at assigned park sites.
+ Artificial Turf Maintenance
Facility Operations
+ Oversee the daily operations of assigned Park locations, focusing on customer service, facility reservations, and programming.
+ Responsible for Park Inspections
+ Assist with creating and managing shift schedules to ensure that park coverage is adequate during both regular hours and tournaments and/or events.
+ Collaborate with MGR II to develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards.
+ Use of Computer-based software & programs for scheduling, time management, and work orders.
+ Interagency cooperation with Sarasota County Sherriff’s Officers, City of Venice Police Officers, and other local agency representatives.
+ Coordination with local leagues and athletic user groups to address issues, special requests, field lining needs, etc.
+ Coordinate maintenance and repair work to avoid conflicts and maximize usage of the facilities.
+ Supervise the setup and teardown to ensure all necessary equipment and facilities are ready for programs, rentals, tournaments, and/or events.

+ In coordination with Parks Planning and Development team, participate in Capital Improvement Project planning within the assigned sites – propose projects, provide feedback during design and concept planning, and facilitate vendor accessibility.
+ Address issues during events, such as power outages, plumbing issues, or structural problems.
+ Coordinate staffing and budgeting while ensuring compliance with safety and facility guidelines.
+ Prepares reports; collects, analyzes, and evaluates data and information and develops conclusions and recommendations thereon. Maintains time and production records.
+ Hires necessary staff, conducts performance reviews and handles employee relations issues.
+ On rotation, serves as County-wide Supervisor-on-Duty, or Supervisor-on-Call during tournaments and high-use periods such as evenings and weekends.
+ Responds to service requests from facility users.
+ Enforces park rules, monitors reservations and general field use.
+ Communicates with tournament and event organizers, and league contacts as day-of site representatives. Makes decisions regarding weather cancellations, staffing needs, special requests.
+ Provides after-action reports detailing challenges and successes, necessary improvements for the future.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
+ Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
+ Must be available Sunday - Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and willing to work on weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
+ Work schedules will vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, weekend tournaments, emergencies, etc.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent education -AND- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the operations and maintenance of athletic fields, sports complexes, or recreation facilities.
+ -OR- Associate degree -AND- Two (2) years of experience in the operations and maintenance of athletic fields, sports complexes, or recreation facilities.
+ -OR- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, at the manager's discretion.
+ One year of supervisory experience.
+ Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds.

+ Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.
+ Parks & Recreation Professional Certification.
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
+ Experience with athletic tournaments, recreation facilities, and/or events.
+ Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (C.D.L.).
+ Specialized training and/or certification in irrigation, herbicide, pesticide application, and/or turf management.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $27.49 - $29.74, based on experience.
