    The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, State, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and State emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado Veterans.

    Description of Job

    This position is part of our Army National Guard division and will work at our Centennial headquarters as part of the Facilities Management branch. This position assists the Facilities Manager and Regional State Maintenance Foreman by overseeing, guiding, and coordinating projects, labor and trades operations, financial tasks, and administrative duties for the Joint Force Headquarters Facilities Management branch . This position supervises two maintenance personnel, two administrative production control staff, and three janitors/custodians, overseeing all daily activities and ensuring efficient operations across maintenance, grounds, custodial, production control, work order prioritization, and administrative functions. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

     

    + evaluating systems and facilities to identify and schedule necessary maintenance and repairs;

    + developing and managing maintenance procedures and project schedules;

    + assisting State Maintenance Technicians with daily workloads, urgent and emergency work order execution;

    + conducting frequent building and equipment inspections to ensure optimal facility conditions;

    + participating in Installation Status Report (ISR) inspections;

    + performing quality control checks to verify work meets building codes and standards;

    + managing maintenance and minor construction projects from initiation to completion, overseeing all phases and ensuring alignment with project plans;

    + developing statements of work, estimating costs, conducting bid walks, managing and tracking contracts, and overseeing vendor payments;

    + overseeing the review and approval of Facilities Management requisitions, invoices, and receipts, and serving as the G9 purchase card authority and manager;

    + managing, validating, and tracking JFHQ Facilities Management budgets provided by the State Foreman and the Resource Manager; and

    + attending project and budget meetings to secure funding for JFHQ FM projects.

     

    Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Four years of experience in a construction and/or labor trades or crafts capacity of which one year included inspecting trades work; and

    + Two years experience supervising tradesmen in various locations as a unit supervisor.

    Employment Conditions:

    + Must be a current State of Colorado resident to apply.

    + Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.

    + Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.

    + Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.

    + Must be able to be on-site within one hour to respond to emergencies as they occur.

    + Must be willing to work 4 days a week, 10 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    + Must be able to work occasional shift assignments and overtime as needed.

    + Able to perform strenuous labor.

    + Ability to stand, walk, climb, crawl, kneel, bend, reach above the shoulder.

    + Ability to constantly lift and carry ten pounds, frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

    + Ability to push, pull, have manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, near and far vision, hearing abilities, and be able to verbally communicate with others.

    + Ability to work inside, work around noise and vibrations, walk on uneven surfaces, operate moving equipment/vehicle, climb on a ladder, work in a small and confined space, work with machinery, and work in hazardous conditions.

    + Must be able to work before/after-hours performing snow removal when necessary.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Preference will be given to individuals who have:

    + computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office software; and

    + who are familiar with computerized maintenance management and building automation systems.
