    Description of Job

    Have a strong mechanical aptitude and enjoy fixing things? Join the Mines Structural Trades team in this exciting position.

     

    The purpose of this position is to provide quality general service to include interior and exterior structural repairs to roofing, doors, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, and to provide snow removal assistance. In addition to building repairs, this position may be required to provide quality service in minor furniture and minor appliance repairs.

     

    This position provides all related services necessary to maintain facilities in good working condition, meeting all standards and codes in order to support the mission of a thriving campus with facilities currently totaling 2.4 million square feet, comprising 474 acres.

    Structural Trades I positions assist Structural Trades II and III in providing quality general service for campus buildings and may include:

    + Painting, drywall, flooring repair

    + Door and window installation/repair

    + Base & door trim

    + Roof, gutter & downspout cleaning & repair

    + Furniture assembly & repair

    + Ceiling tiles

    + Anchoring shelves, windows and equipment

    + Window & blind repair

    + Snow removal

     

    Positions utilize a computerized work order system to track time and materials used in completing work and to describe how the work was completed.

     

    This position is designated as essential, which means employees may be asked to report to work during emergencies such as inclement weather.

     

    Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and Experience:

    Two years of experience in the structural trades ( painting, drywall, flooring repair, door and window installation/repair, roof and gutter repair, minor handyman/general maintenance and carpentry repair, construction experience ).

     

    Experience must be clearly documented in "Work History" section of application. "see resume" will not be accepted. Part time work will be pro-rated.

    Substitutions:

    Appropriate education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

     

    YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS OR OTHER DOCUMENTATION TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THIS SUBSTITUTION.

    Necessary Special Requirements

    A current Colorado Driver's License is required and must be maintained during employment. A copy of your current motor vehicle record (MVR) will be required as a condition of hire. Must be physically able to perform strenuous physical labor including lifting 100 pounds.
