    **Title** : Associate R&D Chemist I

    **Location** : On site in San Fernando, CA

    **Type** : 3-month contract to hire

    **Pay rate range** : $28-$30/hour

    Position Overview

    We are seeking a junior-level R&D Chemist to join our product development team. This role focuses on formulating and enhancing beverage concentrates and flavor systems while collaborating across multiple departments. The successful candidate will work under senior chemist guidance to create innovative solutions that meet market demands and customer specifications.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Formulate and optimize beverage concentrates, flavor profiles, and related products based on customer specifications and market requirements.

    + Conduct sensory evaluation of all developed products to ensure quality standards and taste profiles meet expectations.

    + Execute product costing analysis and maintain accurate formula documentation in digital systems for production scaling.

    + Design and implement shelf-life testing protocols and stability studies to validate product performance over time.

    + Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing teams to facilitate seamless transition from lab-scale to commercial production.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline with strong analytical foundation.

    + Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in food/beverage industry R&D or comparable product development environment.

    + Demonstrated mathematical competency including algebraic calculations for formula development and scaling.

    + Exceptional sensory evaluation skills with proven ability to detect subtle differences in taste, aroma, and visual characteristics.

    + Physical capability to handle laboratory equipment and materials up to 15 pounds with adequate visual acuity for precise measurements.
