The Position
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.-
Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties described in the series concept to include journey level duties such as extensive electrical and fuel system diagnosis and repair work, rebuilding complete transmissions, and performing mechanical inspections of vehicles involved in accidents.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Division (NHP) is seeking an Equipment Mechanic 2 to join the Reno shop team. This role is critical to maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and modifying a diverse fleet of light, medium, and heavy vehicles, including Ford Explorers, F150s, and Dodge Chargers, as well as diesel-fueled electric power generators. As an integral member of the NHP team, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the fleet that supports Nevada's law enforcement operations. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprentice-ship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service; OR one year experience as an Equipment Mechanic I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
Applicants must attach verification of successful completion of an apprenticeship program and/or experienced gained through an apprenticeship program at the time of application.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
