    SALARY: $23.00 Hourly

    WORK HOURS:

    Toddler Class/Adult Education- 9:00 am-11:30 am, two days a week. (Possibly three)

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position is responsible for providing high quality, engaging enrichment activities to prepare toddlers for a classroom environment and a smooth transition to the ELC. The person in this position will serve as a language model for children 18-36 months and their participating family members.

     

    + Prepare activities and environment that allows for hands-on exploration of academic/developmental learning for toddlers/young preschoolers who are Visually Impaired

    + Prepares structured group activities such as story time and circle time that address learning objectives typical for children who are 18-36 months old

    + Assist parents in completing developmental assessment of their children to identify goals, priorities, and appropriate interventions

    + Use required instructional materials with fidelity to introduce and develop concepts

    + Develop and maintain a classroom structure and management for both child and adult learners.

    + Participate in the identification and development of IFSP plan and goals and develop, use, model and monitor strategies and progress related to achieving mastery of goals for each individual child

    + Analyze and utilize student data to drive instruction and meet the needs of the individuals in the group

    + Record and report data on individual students/families, i.e.: progress monitoring reports, incident reports, participation, and attendance records, etc.

    + Partner with parents/guardians to provide opportunity for carry-over of skills and strategies from the Toddler Classroom to the Home Environment

    + Provide special activities (seminars/presentations, field trips, etc.) that allow parents of toddlers and Parent Infant Program parents opportunities to learn and network together in collaboration with ELC and PIP Directors

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

    + Knowledge of early childhood development.

    + Knowledge of the needs of visually impaired students.

    + Ability to maintain a professional relationship with students, parents, and staff members.

    + Ability to communicate effectively with parents and caregivers in regard to goal planning, evaluation, and intervention strategies.

    + Ability to organize engaging and educational outings and presentations for a large group of parents and children.

    + Ability to present information to a group of adult learners.

    + Ability to travel, ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate parent schedules for adult instruction.

    + Must be able to obtain VIISA and INSITE certifications.

    + Ability to attend trainings/meetings and implement skills acquired during professional development activities as required by Federal, State and FSDB mandates.

    + Ability to complete training and administer skills acquired during CPI;

    + Ability to complete training and administer skills acquired during CPR;

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field required

    (Must have at least one or more below in addition to the Bachelor’s Degree)

    • 3-5 Montessori Certification

    • VIISA and INSITE Certification

    • 5-7 years in Early Childhood

    • Infant Family Mental Health or Infant Toddler Developmental

    Specialist Certification,

    • State of Florida Teaching Certificate

     

    Condition of Employment
