UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, NY is excited to invite applicants for a full-time Office Assistant I position supporting our Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech/Hearing departments. This Monday–Friday role (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) offers the convenience of no weekends or holidays, and the opportunity to be a key part of a collaborative team.

     

    As the face of our front desks, you will play an essential role in ensuring a smooth patient experience—greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and accurately collecting and entering patient demographic and insurance information. Your flexibility to support multiple therapy departments as needed will help keep our operations running efficiently and compassionately.

    _Title and starting pay rate of this position may vary based on years of experience and manager discretion._

    In this role, there will be the opportunity to-

    + Verify patient information and records in both the medical record and computerized scheduling system.

    + Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule appointments; relay messages to staff and providers as needed.

    + Greet and register patients courteously; provide instructions and notify departments of arrivals.

    + Maintain a clean and orderly waiting area, including beverage and reading materials.

    + Prepare patient charts in advance for upcoming appointments.

    + Answer and screen telephone calls, take messages, and provide requested information.

    + Update physician schedules and confirm appointments to ensure proper scheduling.

    + Complete required paperwork and use the computer system for billing and financial tasks.

    Required:

    + High school diploma or GED.

    + One (1) year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

    Preferred:

    + Knowledge of medical terminology.

    + Word processing and computer experience.
