Job Summary:
The Environmental Manager will oversee and manage all environmental aspects of civil construction projects to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and company policies. The role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing environmental programs that minimize the impact of construction activities on the environment, while promoting sustainability and best practices.
Job Description:
+ Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s environmental management system (EMS) aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
+ Conduct environmental risk assessments and impact analyses related to civil construction projects.
+ Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permits.
+ Monitor and audit construction sites for environmental compliance, identifying potential issues and recommending corrective actions.
+ Coordinate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.
+ Manage waste disposal, pollution control, erosion and sediment control, and hazardous materials handling on construction sites.
+ Liaise with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and the community regarding environmental matters.
+ Prepare and submit required environmental documentation, reports, and permits.
+ Deliver training and awareness programs for staff and subcontractors on environmental policies and procedures.
+ Lead incident investigations related to environmental non-compliance and develop mitigation plans.
+ Promote sustainability initiatives, such as resource conservation, recycling, and energy efficiency within construction operations.
+ Stay updated on environmental legislation changes, industry trends, and best practices relevant to civil construction.
Required Skills:
+ Engineering, or related field.
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental management within the construction or civil engineering sector.
+ Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to construction.
+ Experience with environmental management systems (ISO 14001 preferred).
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects.
+ Proficiency in environmental reporting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Certification in environmental management or health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a plus.
