The Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy exists to regulate the practices of alcohol and drug counseling and professional counseling in the State of Minnesota. Regulation of these professions is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public when they receive mental health and chemical health counseling services. The Board carries out its mission through effective licensure and enforcement of statutes and rules that ensure a standard of competent and ethical practice.
The Continuing Education Coordinator is responsible for (1) processing continuing education (CE) audits and tracking CE compliance; (2) processing CE variance requests and tracking CE compliance; (3) processing and tracking continuing education sponsor applications and individual continuing education applications; (4) processing and tracking of Professional Firms; and (5) performing special projects and other duties as assigned by the Board’s Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Knowledge of communication sufficient to: (1) read, explain, and interpret a variety of materials; (2) follow detailed instructions and explain complex processes to customers; and (3) write, prepare, and edit materials, using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.
+ Customer service skills sufficient to: (1) perform the duties with politeness, respect, and interest in positive problem solving; (2) provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence; and (3) respond effectively to clients, coworkers, and customers (in person, in writing, on the phone, and through presentations and other electronic correspondence).
+ Keyboarding/typing skill, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails, memos, form letters and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner.
+ Data entry skills sufficient to create database records, update database entries, retrieve and analyze database records, and apply the basics of spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Knowledge of professional licensure regulation and tracking requirements.
+ Skills sufficient to communicate effectively with a variety of clientele.
+ Knowledge of continue education compliance requirements and processes sufficient to communicate effectively with a variety of clientele.
+ Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
+ Customer service/administrative support experience.
+ Knowledge of the Data Practices Act sufficient to understand what information may or may not be given to members of the public.
+ Experience operating standard office equipment such as a copier, scanner, fax, computer, and printer.
+ Ability to work independently.
