Summary
**SUMMARY:** Manages the day-to-day operations of the Rehabilitation Therapy department; this position will manage, motivate and develop the Rehabilitation therapy team, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy for inpatient and outpatient services and other ancillary services as delegated; strategizes to continuously improve the department, have oversight of budgets, processes and opportunities for growth.
**DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Assigns duties to professional and supportive staff; communicates departmental needs.
2. Develop, monitor and manage departmental budgets, interviews prospective candidates, completes performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
3. Develops and introduces new methods and techniques; provides recommendations for improvement of current programs/processes and implementation of new programs/processes.
4. Consults with physicians to collaborate on department needs and support; may advise physicians in development of specialized physical therapy programs consistent with special patient needs.
5. Oversight of the rehab treatment program to achieve treatment objectives and goals for patient rehabilitation.
6. Directs development of approved procedures for rehabilitation therapy with team input; establishes policies for safety and assures adherence to safety procedures in the use of rehabilitation equipment and the handling of patients.
7. May engage in limited patient care; evaluates patients through the administration of varied strength and range of motion tests, balance, coordination, and mobility assessments.
8. Oversees orientation and training of new employees in procedures and techniques.
9. Oversees the Therapy student training program.
10. Performs administrative and supervisory duties; assigns duties to professional and support staff; communicates departmental needs; manages the hiring, scheduling, timekeeping, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions of staff.
11. Plans, organizes and directs In-Service Education Program.
12. Prepares various reports (budgetary, productivity, quality metrics, and patient satisfaction).
13. Assists with patient throughput programs, develops systems and processes for improved care and assists with rehabilitation growth opportunities.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: Bachelor’s in Physical, Speech or Occupational Therapy required.
Preferred Education: Master’s preferred.
Required Experience: Experience in oversight of Rehabilitation program.
Preferred Experience: Experience in oversight of multi-discipline rehabilitation department.
Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid licensure with the California Board of Occupational, Physical or Speech Therapy.
**Pay:** $55.23 - $92.04
_The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program._
Additional Information
Note: Must have Management experience within a Rehabilitation setting. Rehab Unit Manager - inpatient oversees Highland Hospital and leads at Alameda Hospital and San Leandro Hospital. Managing leads, union environments, setting up policies. Travel to different sites based on need.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: Bachelor’s in Physical, Speech or Occupational Therapy required.
