    SUMMARY:

    Under the supervision of the Sr. Associate Director for Programs of the River Blindness (RB), Lymphatic Filariasis (LF), Schistosomiasis (SCH), and Malaria (ML) Programs, the Project Manager will oversee the coordination and implementation of Carter Center-assisted activities under the Reaching the Last Mile Fund (RLMF) project. This global coalition aims to eliminate onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis from Africa and Yemen.

     

    The Project Manager will serve as the primary liaison for the Carter Center’s RLMF activities, providing oversight for country-led implementation and coordinating internal workstreams, including project budgets, workplans, and reporting. The role involves project management, country office visits, grant writing, report writing, budget planning, presentations, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. May supervise staff, interns, and volunteers. Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) is required.

     

    _This is a life-of-project position. Employment is contingent upon the continued availability of sufficient grant funds allocated to support this position and satisfactory performance._

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Serve as the lead Carter Center representative for the RLMF project, liaising with global partners, Ministries of Health, subgrantees, and donors in coordination with Program and organizational leadership.

    + Act as the primary link between country programs and headquarters, ensuring effective communication and coordination of technical, logistical, administrative, and financial support.

    + Lead the cross-functional team managing RLMF project implementation across Carter Center-assisted countries, including goal-setting, planning, and execution.Oversee project work planning, budgeting, reporting, and subgrant management in collaboration with Program, Development, and Finance teams.

    + Maintain and improve internal tools and tracking systems to monitor project performance and outcomes, ensuring alignment with donor priorities and technical guidance.

    + Represent the RLMF project in committees, meetings, and high-level forums while supporting internal coordination and communication across teams.

    + Identify implementation risks and consultant needs, manage deliverables and logistics, and contribute to staff training, stakeholder briefings, and professional development.

    + Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences. Visit country programs and collaborate with various stakeholders.

    + May supervise program staff and consultants, volunteer staff, students, and interns.

    + Responsible for program’s compliance with all donor and organizational policies and procedures. Maintains awareness of and coordinates the team’s management of subgrants.

    + Maintains professional growth and development of self by identifying educational/training programs, professional organizations, activities, and resources to maintain knowledge of national trends and leading expertise.

    + Performs other related duties as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor's degree in field related to specific program as indicated and six years program related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Post-graduate degree in public health or related studies, five years of experience in global health, neglected tropical diseases, malaria or program management.

    + Proficiency in project and financial management software and tools.

    + Project Management experience/certification/training.

    + Fluency in French and/or Portuguese would be advantageous.

     

    NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines.  All non-exempt employees must reside within the state of Georgia.
