Description
Are you an experienced accounting professional with a passion for the construction industry? We are hiring a Construction Accountant to join an established and growing company in Tacoma, WA. This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone with strong accounting skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to ensure efficiency across financial operations specific to the construction field.
Key Responsibilities
+ Manage job cost allocations and track project spending, budgets, and variances.
+ Prepare and analyze financial reports, including WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules.
+ Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes related to subcontractors and vendors.
+ Handle construction-specific tax reporting, such as sales/use tax and lien releases.
+ Assist with payroll processing, including certified payroll compliance if required.
+ Maintain compliance with relevant construction contracts and accounting regulations, including AIA (American Institute of Architects) billing processes.
+ Collaborate with project managers and leadership to improve financial workflows and ensure accurate job costing.
Requirements
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience required, with construction accounting strongly preferred.
+ Proficiency in ERP software (e.g., Sage 300/Timberline, Viewpoint Vista, or similar systems).
+ Strong knowledge of construction billing processes, job costing, and WIP reporting.
+ Advanced Excel skills; experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas.
+ Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
