•️ Position Summary
Bill Watts at Robert Half is actively seeking a seasoned and meticulous Senior Accountant with a strong background in certified payroll to join my construction clients finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting and strict compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations, particularly for public works and government-funded projects.
• Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations
+ Manage and review certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage laws
+ Collaborate with HR and field teams to verify payroll classifications, fringe benefits, and labor hours
+ Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and project cost reports for management review
+ Ensure timely and accurate submission of compliance documentation for government contracts
+ Support audits by maintaining organized records and preparing requested documentation
+ Monitor job costing and support project managers with budget analysis and variance reporting
+ Assist in implementation and optimization of accounting systems and procedures
Requirements
• Requirements
+ Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction sector
+ Strong understanding of certified payroll requirements and compliance regulations
+ Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks Contractor, Viewpoint, or similar)
+ Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
+ Solid knowledge of GAAP and project-based accounting
• Preferred Qualifications
+ Hands-on experience with government-funded construction projects
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
+ Familiarity with union reporting and multi-state payroll regulations
+ Experience with document control systems and electronic submission platforms (e.g., LCPtracker, eMars)
