    Robert Half Technology (Houston, TX)


    Description

    We are seeking a versatile IT Generalist with proven experience supporting Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in a manufacturing, energy, utilities, or industrial setting. This role bridges traditional IT support with operational technology (OT), ensuring secure and reliable integration between enterprise IT systems and industrial control environments.

     

    + Provide end-to-end IT support, including hardware, software, networking, and systems administration.

    + Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot ICS environments including SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and related network infrastructure.

    + Collaborate with OT engineers and plant operations teams to ensure system uptime and performance.

    + Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices in ICS environments, including segmentation, access control, and patching.

    + Support configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management of ICS-related devices and servers.

    + Maintain documentation for ICS systems, network diagrams, and support procedures.

    + Assist with backup and disaster recovery planning for critical systems in both IT and OT domains.

    + Manage user access, authentication, and identity management across IT/OT systems.

    + Work with vendors and third-party service providers to support ICS hardware/software updates or troubleshooting.

    Requirements

    + 3+ years of IT generalist experience, including system administration, networking, and end-user support.

    + 1+ years of experience supporting or working within ICS/SCADA environments.

    + Familiarity with industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC, BACnet).

    + Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles related to OT and ICS.

    + Experience with Windows and Linux systems, networking (firewalls, switches, VLANs), and virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V).

    + Ability to work independently in high-availability and safety-critical environments.
