    Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Regulatory Practice Coordinator in our Practice Management department, reporting directly to the Director of Practice Management - Regulatory.

     

    The position will reside in the Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities, and will be responsible for supporting the business needs and internal operations of the Regulatory group. The Practice Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Practice Coordinator must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner consistent with the Firm’s Core Values.

    Key responsibilities of this position include:

    + Support the coordination of the annual attorney and timekeeper evaluation process, including scheduling meetings and following up with Partners and Practice Directors.

    + Plan agendas, prepare presentation materials, and organize monthly and ad hoc conference calls, partner meetings, and other practice events. Follow up on initiatives discussed during meetings to ensure timely execution of deliverables and achievement of goals.

    + Collaborate with Partners and Attorney Development personnel to plan and implement formal training programs for practice group attorneys, including onboarding for first-year associates and lateral hires.

    + Assist the Practice Director and Senior Coordinator with budgeting, expense tracking, and overall financial management for the practice group.

    + Manage the hiring, onboarding, oversight, and offboarding of contract attorneys as needed. Ensure timely processing of related invoices.

    + Partner with the Practice Management team to support the billing and collections process, particularly at mid-year and year-end. Coordinate efforts between Partners, Billing, and Secretaries to streamline client billing and collections.

    + Monitor attorney productivity and availability and provide weekly status updates to relevant stakeholders.

    + Maintain and regularly update the practice group’s intranet site and central repository of key practice management documents and resources.

    + Establish strong rapport and working relationships with business services personnel across different groups and strong relationships with attorneys within the practice.

    + Foster and encourage a culture of superior client service, responsiveness, and collegiality.

    Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

    + Bachelor’s degree required.

    + 1-3 years of related experience, preferably in a law firm in an administrative role.

    + Superior written and oral communication skills.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills and judgement when communicating with those of various levels of seniority across organizations.

    + Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook Word and PowerPoint.

    + Established attention to detail and organizational skills.

    + Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize competing tasks under pressure and time constraints

    + Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with peers and superiors

    + Good judgment and a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and loyalty

    + Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of client, firm and office information and adhering to the Firm’s Core Values.

     

    The anticipated base salary range for this position in Washington, DC is $71,000 - $90,000. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.
