Position Title Prevention Coordinator
FLSA Non-Exempt
Primary Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Wellness Education, the Prevention Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the goals and activities of the St. Lawrence University Comprehensive Care Network ( CCN ) Project supported by the SAMHSA GLS Grant. Grant goals and activities focus on substance abuse prevention, suicide prevention, and increased access to emotional and mental health support for St. Lawrence University students. This is a part-time, 20-25 hours per week, temporary, 10-month position that is contingent upon the receipt of grant funding for the 2025-2026 academic year. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Outreach and relationship building with community partners, including scheduling community partners for educational and resource-sharing visits to campus.
+ Implement on-campus educational programming and awareness events focused on substance misuse and harm reduction.
+ Implement on-campus suicide prevention training, as well as awareness campaigns related to suicide prevention and associated resource awareness for college students.
+ Establish relationships with student groups and student leaders to assist with grant goals.
+ Plan and implement student events focused on mental health and emotional well-being and assist with related events planned by the Wellness Education and Counseling departments.
+ Manage the scheduling and assessment of Life Skills lectures.
+ Assist with supervision of student interns.
+ Other duties may be assigned by supervisor as needed to fulfill the goals of the grant.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, health, or education field.
+ Knowledge of college mental health trends, suicide prevention and substance abuse prevention programming.
+ Ability to take initiative on projects and successfully manage tasks independently.
+ Ability to connect with and communicate successfully with college students.
+ Strong work ethic, commitment, and organizational skills.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
+ Comfortable training college students, faculty and staff in assigned areas.
+ Adept at using social media, email, and ability to learn related systems.
+ Ability to work and communicate successfully with a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
+ 2 years post graduate years of experience in public health, higher education (with focus on programming), non-profit prevention work or related field.
+ Previous experience working in a higher education setting.
+ Experience using social media for marketing and event promotion related to health and wellness.
+ Event planning.
Salary $23-$25 per hour
