JOB SUMMARY
Burning Man Project is seeking a fun, dynamic, and experienced Event Producer to assist with the planning and execution of a diverse, year-round portfolio of events. This includes public gatherings outside of Black Rock City and events related to Burning Man Project’s departments, programs, and organizational goals. This role reports directly to the Executive Producer, and works closely across the Global Activation team on purposeful event creation .
This is a regular, full-time role, located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Working hours will be based on Pacific Time.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This role requires a creative individual who is a seasoned event producer capable of generating operating plans and coordinating the activities associated with a variety of events. Willingness to be agile and respond to emergent event requirements is key, while also being a creative partner in the development of event strategies and production.
Examples of events include in-person gatherings, celebratory convenings, conferences, and gatherings in varied settings including but not limited to offices, conference centers, public spaces, event venues, and remote, off-grid camping.
Projects Include, but are not limited to:
+ Annual Bay Area community events Burnal Equinox (March) and Decompression (October)
+ Bi-annual European Leadership Summit
+ Black Rock City Operations Summit
+ Burners Without Borders and Fly Ranch convenings and gatherings
+ Virtual events that support Burning Man departments and teams, both internal and public
PERCENTAGE OF TIME SPENT
Creative & Strategic Direction (40%)
+ Contribute to the creative direction and design of year-round events
+ Collaborate with teams on pre-production planning and in-event execution
+ Create and maintain presentations and communications for internal and external stakeholders
+ Support development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and event planning tools and templates
+ Help create systems that will work across diverse events in support of organizational goals
People & Partnerships (20%)
+ Advise and collaborate with teams to support their event goals
+ Manage and support volunteers that help create community events
+ Coordinate with contractors and vendors involved in event execution
Planning & Coordination (20%)
+ Manage the overall calendar of year-round events and production timelines
+ Organize and maintain an event-related meeting schedule with clear agendas
+ Work interdepartmentally to ensure alignment across teams
Systems & Operations (20%)
+ Set up and manage registration and ticketing processes
+ Maintain and archive departmental and event-related documentation and recordings
+ Create and update event site diagrams to support permitting, budgeting, and logistics
+ Maintain an up-to-date web presence for events
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
+ Documentation - Assists in the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned duties.
+ Knowledge sharing – Helps acculturate and educate junior staff in Burning Man culture and business processes.
+ Training development - Collaborates with the education team to develop training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.
+ Learning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise, working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience & Skills
+ 10+ years in event production, including live performance, conferences, meetings, and large-scale festival-style events
+ Experience working with recruiting, managing, and supporting volunteers
+ Skilled in project management and event planning tools (Asana, Google Drive, etc.)
+ Familiar with virtual platforms (Zoom and others) for producing online gatherings
+ Competent in budget planning and reconciliation for events
+ Ability to work collaboratively with venues and service providers
Tech & Tools Proficiency
+ Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
+ Basic graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe, or similar
+ Experience using event promotion tools: email, social media, and online listings (in partnership with Communications team)
+ Basic knowledge of event ticketing and registration processes and platforms

+ Ability to work in a creative, collaborative manner that reflects the culture and principles of Burning Man
PREFERRED
+ It is helpful if the candidate has previously been to Burning Man and/or is familiar with its culture
+ Basic knowledge of live event-related technical systems (audio, lighting, video)

COMPENSATION:
Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location. The anticipated salary range for this position is $81,000 to $88,000 annually.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires periods of heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.This position will be physically demanding at times, and requires individuals with good physical health and endurance. Work will include the need to work at diverse event sites and meet with others who may not be in the vicinity, therefore this could include walking or using some form of transportation. Some of the work will be in outside weather conditions.
