    Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of an Ambulance Billing Analyst.

     

    Within the Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department’s Ambulance Transportation Division, the Ambulance Billing Analyst will complete in-depth analysis of GFRD ambulance revenue cycle management, maintain division KPI’s, complete quality assurance reviews, and audits focusing on federal, state, and local billing compliance. With the ultimate goal of providing data driven insight to foster a high performing ambulance transportation division.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Perform in-depth analysis of trends within the Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department's revenue cycle management processes, both internally and with third-party billing and collection vendors. Propose data-driven recommendations for system and process improvements.

    + Serve as the primary representative and point of contact between the Town of Gilbert and its third-party billing and collections companies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

    + Manage and oversee the refund process, ensuring strict adherence to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

    + Supervise the collection referral process, ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

    + Conduct various internal audits and reviews, including those related to denials, aging accounts, and payment postings, to ensure accuracy and compliance.

    + Conduct comprehensive research and assist in the drafting of department policies related to ambulance billing and compliance, ensuring that all policies align with current best practices and regulatory standards.

    + Support the research and preparation of department budget packages related to ambulance billing and compliance, ensuring accurate financial planning and reporting.

    + Conduct comprehensive training sessions for new transportation employees, focusing on billing compliance and best practices.

    + Perform the duties of the Ambulance Transportation Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations.

    + Carry out all activities with the highest standards of fairness, morality, ethics, and legality.

    + Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals and objectives.

    Minimum Qualifications and Special Requirements

     

    + Education: Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.

    + Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in medical billing, with a preference for ambulance billing experience.

    + An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities is acceptable.

    + Licensing/Certifications:

    + NAAC Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) preferred; required within 6 months of hire.

    + NAAC Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer (CACO) preferred; required within 6 months of hire.

    + NAAC Certified Ambulance Financial Officer (CAFO) preferred; required within 1 year of hire.

    + Equivalent medical billing certification/licensure accepted.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

    + Ambulance Billing Expertise: In-depth knowledge of ambulance billing and revenue cycle management practices.

    + Data Analysis Proficiency: Strong capability in analyzing ambulance billing data and identifying trends.

    + Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of CMS rules and regulations pertaining to ambulance billing.

    + Insurance Industry Insight: Familiarity with insurance industry coverage and billing processes.

    + Audit Experience: Proven experience in conducting medical billing audits and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
