Job Title: Network Specialist
Posting Title for Recruiting: Network Specialist
Responsible to: IT Operations Manager
Job Summary:
The Network Specialist will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the performance and security of our computer networks. This includes LAN, WAN, internet, intranet, and other data communication systems. This position has a key role in ensuring the integrity and availability of network infrastructure to meet business needs.
Essential Job Duties:
+ Install, configure, and support networking hardware and software (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN).
+ Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and security.
+ Maintain documentation of network configurations, standards, and policies.
+ Perform routine network maintenance, upgrades, and patches.
+ Work with other IT staff to plan and implement network projects and improvements.
+ Respond to and resolve network-related support tickets in a timely manner.
+ Manage user access, network permissions, and security protocols.
+ Ensure compliance with IT and data security standards and best practices.
+ Provide technical support and training to staff on network-related topics.
+ Collaborate with vendors and service providers to maintain and improve network services.
+ Any other duty as assigned by your Supervisor.
Skills:
+ Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
+ Hands-on experience with Meraki, Aruba, or similar networking equipment.
+ Familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network monitoring tools.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent.
+ Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, etc.).
+ Knowledge of VoIP systems, wireless networking, and network automation.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
OR
• Associate’s degree and 3+ years of experience in network administration or support.
Training Requirements:
+ New Hire Orientation
Physical Requirements:
• May require occasional evening or weekend work for system upgrades or maintenance.
• Ability to lift and transport networking equipment as needed.
• On-site work environment depending on organizational requirements.
