    Job Description

    The DOP (or designee) is responsible for ensuring that licensed staff members maintain an active New York State registration. The DOP is responsible for insuring that a copy of the individual's license and current registration, as well as a printout of the primary on-line source verification regarding active registration, is on file in the employee's personnel folder at the beginning of the employment and on an ongoing basis prior to expiration. The DOP will ensure that the license and registration are posted in accordance with the regulations of the New York State Board of Pharmacy. It is the responsibility of the employee to register and to advise the Director when registraton is complete.

    Qualifications

    + PharmD

    + 5+ years progressive Pharmacy experience, preferably in a hospital setting

    + NYS Pharmacist licensure

    Responsibilities

    + Assists the Chief Pharmacy Officer in setting objectives and priorities and determining strategies to accomplish department objectives of providing quality services to patients and staff. Participates in the development of policies and procedures.

    + Participates in analyzing records to indicate prescribing trends and excessive usage of drugs.

    + Monitors and implements new pharmacy programs.

    + Advises the Chief Pharmacy Officer in developing quality assurance techniques to ensure safe, legal, and ethical practices.

    + Participates in inter-intra departmental meetings to advise and inform hospital medical staff of drug applications and characteristics.

    + Assumes responsibilities of the Chief Pharmacy Officer in his/her absence.

    + Assigns work, sets deadlines and supervises work of staff.

    + Recruits, trains and evaluates performance of assigned staff. Performs disciplinary activity as necessary.

    + Assists the Chief Pharmacy Officer in the preparation of pharmacy budget and department reports required by hospital administrators and finance department.

    + Oversees inventory of pharmacy products and supplies to meet department and hospital demands.

    + Oversees computer systems, robotics, automated dispensing cabinets, IV program systems, bar code management and other systems related to the departmental functioning.

    + Oversees GPO and individual contract opportunities for the hospital.

    + Oversees coordination of the interview process for hiring personnel.

    + Oversees staffing, scheduling and payroll of all departmental BU and weekly NBU employees.

    + Recommends and or performs disciplinary actions of assigned staff as required.

    + Clinical Pharmacy Services:

    + Coordinates all clinical pharmacy programs throughout the Hospital, including roll out of pharmacy clinical initiatives in all pharmacy satellite locations, staff education, medication use evaluations, research, grants, publications, investigational drug activities, antimicrobial assistance program, performance improvement activities, adverse drug reaction program, and medication error evaluation.

    + Preceptor and Program Director of the ASHP PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program

    + Pharmacy lead for EPIC willow program

    + Review regulatory standards for updates, develop and implement changes to ensure compliance.

    + Serve as liaison to QA and Risk Management departments

    + Member of various hospital committees and assigns pharmacy representation in hospital QA committees

    + Preparation of P & T and other committee agenda

    + Administers and maintains pharmacy clinical data bases.

    + Editor of Formulary Facts, Pharmacy Bulletins, and Drug Recalls

    + Coordinate rotations for pharmacy students from our University Affiliates

    Compensation Statement

    Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $153723 - $230584 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
