    General Description

    This is a responsible position involving the regulation of traffic to permit the safe conduct of school children across streets at intersections and crosswalks in the vicinity of public and private schools. The work is performed on a part-time basis, during morning and afternoon hours when children are going to and coming from school. General supervision is received from senior-level personnel. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. Performs related work as required.

     

    CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION.

     

    Typical Work Activities

     

    + Directs and routes vehicle traffic;

    + Conducts school children safely across street;

    + Reports any violations of traffic laws and regulations to local police;

    + Uses hand held signs in streets during school hours to direct traffic.

    Minimum Qualifications

    There are no education or experience qualifications.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Must pass physical examination prior to appointment.
