    Description:

    Summary:

    As a Lead Network Engineer, you serve as both a technical expert and a strategic leader, playing a critical role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure. You are responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of all network systems while guiding the network engineering team in alignment with business objectives.

     

    This role requires a highly self-motivated individual with deep technical expertise and proven leadership experience. You will report directly to senior IT leadership and act as a key contributor to the organization’s technological advancement by delivering scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions across LAN/WAN and cloud-based architectures.

     

    In addition to leading major implementations, upgrades, and enhancements, you will support and safeguard network security systems, assist the Senior Network Engineer in managing the overall network environment, and step in to perform duties of a Network Engineer I & II when necessary. Your ability to analyze business needs, mentor team members, and drive operational excellence makes you an essential part of the IT infrastructure team and a steward of the organization’s digital resilience.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    In addition to all duties listed under the Senior Network Engineer role, the Lead Network Engineer will:

    Leadership & Team Management

     

    + Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

    + Provide technical direction, task delegation, and performance feedback.

    + Serve as the escalation point for complex network issues and critical incidents.

    + Promote best practices in network design, security, and operations.

     

    Strategic & Project Leadership

     

    + Collaborate with senior management to define and execute network strategies.

    + Lead large-scale network projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.

    + Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to improve network efficiency and security.

    + Ensure alignment of network initiatives with organizational goals and compliance requirements.

     

    Advanced Technical Expertise

     

    + Design and manage enterprise-grade networks using Cisco, Brocade/Ruckus, Arista, Aruba, and Fortinet hardware.

    + Expert-level proficiency in routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP).

    + Deep experience with firewall platforms (Cisco ASA, FortiGate, Palo Alto).

    + Strong understanding of SD-WAN, cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP), and network automation tools (Python, Ansible, Terraform).

    + Proficient in network monitoring and performance tools such as SolarWinds.

     

    Operational Excellence

     

    + Lead incident response and root cause analysis for major network outages.

    + Ensure robust documentation, change control, and compliance with security standards.

    + Drive continuous improvement in network performance, reliability, and scalability.

     

    Communication & Reporting

     

    + Act as the primary liaison between the network team and senior leadership.

    + Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

    + Provide regular updates on network health, project progress, and team performance.

    Requirements:

    Qualifications

    + 10+ years of experience in network engineering with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior-level role.

    + Expertise in enterprise networking hardware (Cisco, Brocade/Rukus, Arista, Aruba, Fortinet etc.)

    + Proficient in routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP, etc.)

    + Experience with various firewall platforms (Cisco ASA, FortiGate, etc.)

    + Familiarity with various cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).

    + Knowledge of SD-WAN, network automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform), and monitoring tools (SolarWinds etc.)

    + Strong understanding of network security principles and practices.

    + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

    + At least 21 years old

    + Ability to obtain and maintain work cards as required by the company
