    Work you'll do

As a Hazard Mitigation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the execution of a large-scale residential mitigation contract focused on enhancing community resilience and reducing disaster risk.

You will be responsible for centralizing, streamlining, and expediting the mitigation process as outlined in the contract, ensuring that all phases-from application intake through construction-are managed efficiently and in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. A key component of your responsibilities will be advising project teams and stakeholders throughout the engagement by providing subject matter expertise on the Swift Current Grant and the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). You will guide the interpretation and application of program requirements, ensure best practices are followed, and help maximize the use of available funding under these grant programs. In this role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of hazard mitigation projects, including reconstruction, elevation, wind retrofits, and acquisitions, ensuring all activities meet contract deliverables and are completed on schedule and within budget. You will serve as a primary liaison among homeowners, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams, facilitating clear communication, coordinating stakeholder meetings, and addressing questions or concerns related to grant requirements and project implementation. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring all project activities for adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, conducting regular quality assurance reviews, and ensuring all documentation meets grant and contract standards. Beyond project execution, you will contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities for hazard mitigation services, building relationships with potential clients, and supporting the preparation of proposals and presentations for future grant-funded projects. Your ability to stay informed about emerging trends, funding opportunities, and regulatory changes in the hazard mitigation field will be critical for expanding the organization's impact and securing new contracts.
