CertifiedOccupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – School-Based (General or 1:1 Support)

The CertifiedOccupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports students in achieving theireducational goals by assisting with the implementation of occupational therapyservices in a school setting. This role may involve working with studentsacross classrooms or providing 1:1 support to a student with specific needs.Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA helpsstudents develop or regain skills necessary for participation in academic anddaily activities. Services are delivered in accordance with the COTA scope ofpractice and in compliance with applicable state and educational regulations.

KeyResponsibilities:

Assist in theimplementation of individualized occupational therapy plans

Support students indeveloping fine motor, sensory processing, and self-care skills

Collaborate withteachers, therapists, and school staff to integrate therapy into the classroom

Monitor studentprogress and document observations

Adapt activities andmaterials to meet student needs

Promote studentindependence and participation in school routines

Maintain accuraterecords and follow therapy protocols

Communicateeffectively with students, families, and team members

Minimum Requirements:

Currentcertification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Licensure in thestate of practice, if required

One year ofexperience in a pediatric or school-based setting preferred

Current CPRcertification (if applicable)

TB screening(questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required)

Current healthcertificate (per contract or state regulation)

Compliance with allfederal, state, and local regulations

Must be at least 18years of age

Adherence toprofessional standards of practice
