Role Summary
The Senior Scientist will be responsible for the process development work for a range of vaccine antigen modalities, with a focus on subunit proteins. Key responsibilities include designing and executing experiments in membrane filtration and column chromatography to purify diverse proteins, testing scale-up, ensuring the manufacturability of the process, and technology transfer. The role entails summarizing and evaluating study results, as well as developing and testing new hypotheses to enhance our fundamental understanding of recovery and purification processes. It is essential that the Senior Scientist possesses strong scientific expertise in protein purification. Additionally, the role involves performing analysis and characterization of isolated macromolecules using a variety of bioanalytical methodologies.
What You Will Achieve
In this role, you will:
+ Develop, optimize, and scale-up recovery/purification processes for isolation of proteins.
+ Collaborate with colleagues within Vaccine Research and Development organization including Bioprocess Fermentation, Analytical, and Formulation Development groups.
+ Present problems and propose solutions in discussions with group members.
+ Plan and prioritize related recovery / purification activities.
+ Independently analyze, interpret, and provide conclusion and present experimental data.
+ Keep abreast of scientific/ technological development by participating in scientific meetings/ seminars and through regular scientific review. Utilize new technologies and establish those technologies to improve purification / recovery capabilities of process development group.
Qualifications
Must Have
+ Ph.D. and 0 - 2 years postdoctoral experience in industrial or academic setting
+ Proficiency with FPLC, membrane filtration and relevant scientific software (eg. Unicorn)
+ Extensive laboratory research experience in protein purification and characterization
+ Strong understanding of protein chemistry and protein analytics
+ Experience with in-process analytical techniques
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
Nice to Have
+ Proficiency in process development
+ Experience in transferring biologics processes to pilot plants or manufacturing organizations
+ Solid understanding of data acquisition and control systems in bioprocess environments
+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex scientific challenges
+ Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,900.00 to $151,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
