    Overview

     

    This position provides strategic technical leadership and environmental oversight across engineering and operational domains. The role ensures compliance with environmental regulations while driving innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence in engineering practices. The person in this role will lead cross-functional teams, advise management on critical initiatives, and represent the company in regulatory and industry forums.

     

    The position will be filled at the following level based on the selected candidate's background and experience: Engineer I, II, III or Principal.

     

    This position is located onsite at our Trimble County Generating Station located in Bedford, KY.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations (air, water, waste, hazardous materials).

    • Lead environmental audits, inspections, and reporting activities.

    • Coordinate environmental training and awareness programs for plant personnel.

    • Evaluate plant processes for environmental performance and recommend improvements.

    • Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies, preparing and submitting required documentation.

    • Develop and implement advanced engineering methods to solve complex technical challenges.

    • Provide strategic counsel to internal and external stakeholders on engineering and environmental matters.

    • Lead large-scale projects, offering technical direction and mentoring to engineers and analysts.

    • Represent the company in regulatory, legal, and industry proceedings.

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote knowledge sharing across teams.

    • Collaborate with management to develop departmental goals, budgets, and procedures.

    • Provide technical and environmental input for business impact studies and investment planning.

    • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.

    • Stay current on regulatory developments and advise on potential impacts.

    Qualifications

    Required Education

    ABET Accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. Utility system operator experience will be counted as engineering experience for this position.

     

    Ability to analyze and solve engineering problems from a business perspective.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of power plant operations and environmental systems.

    • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

    • Experience with environmental permitting and compliance reporting.

    • Ability to interpret and apply environmental legislation and engineering standards.
