COORDINATOR, GOVERNMENT & PUBLIC AFFAIRS
Endocrinologists are at the core of solving the most pressing health problems of our time, from diabetes and obesity to infertility, bone health, and hormone-related cancers. The Endocrine Society is the world’s oldest and largest organization of scientists devoted to hormone research and physicians who care for people with hormone-related conditions. Under the guidance of the Chief Policy Officer, the Specialist will play a supportive role in the development and implementation of the Society’s legislative, regulatory, and advocacy agenda. The specialist will be the contact person for grassroots advocacy and coordinate and implement our online campaigns and other grassroots activities.
What you’ll bring to the job:
+ Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in public affairs, political science or related field is preferred. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
+ Work experience in a similar capacity is required; experience in a health-related field or medical association and/or congressional office preferred.
+ Proficiency in MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.); database management skills preferred.
+ Must have solid oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; should have a positive attitude and work well in a team-oriented environment.
+ Reliable self-starter with strong initiative and follow through.

What you’ll own:
+ Collaborate with GPA staff to advance health and science policy work and track accomplishments
+ Manage and update roster of advocates and leaders as well as target lists of members of Congress;
+ Implement our grassroots campaigns, alongside of the Chief Policy Officer and collaborate with the Communications and Media Relations to determine best practices for increased engagement on campaigns, social media posts, and other actionable materials sent to members
+ Assist with the staffing and logistics for committee meetings, cross departmental efforts/collaborations, and other advocacy-related efforts. Draft advocacy campaigns, reports, alerts, and pieces to include in eNews, Advocacy in Action, and other updates and presentations.
+ Complete quarterly and yearly lobbying disclosures, code vendor invoices and member reimbursements
+ Collaborate with Communication and Media Relations team to ensure accurate and timely posting of all GPA related materials to Endocrine.org., on social media, and in electronic newsletters
+ Provide support for advocacy-related programs and monitor relevant legislation and regulation
+ Assist with the development and execution of Hill days; identify target districts and recruit Society members to participate, draft written materials such as talking points and follow up emails; accompany Society members to Hill meetings when appropriate
+ Organize Congressional Briefings, including identifying speakers, preparing presentations and background materials, working with panel, and conducting follow-up to congressional offices
+ Disseminate Society policy letters, position statements, etc. to our Congressional contacts and respond to inquiries from Congressional staff regarding these materials

Work Location:
This position is located in Washington, DC and walking distance to Metro and major bus lines. The Endocrine Society offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 2 days per week to foster our collaborative culture and support cross-functional interaction.
