Responsibilities Examines, processes, and classifies a limited variety of common, easily recognized equipment, materials, and commodities. Follows established standard procedures for the receipt, identification, examination, processing, and disposition of materials and equipment, and receive assistance from the supervisor in borderline condition determinations. Responsible for the safe and proper operation of machinery and tools used in observing all required operating and safety criteria in regard to the operation of forklifts and related equipment. Operates the metal bailers. Operates a variety of fork lifts capable of lifting loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds to move, load, unload, stack or unstuck palletized goods, boxes, supplies, etc., from one location to another; drives up to 1 ton motor vehicle. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Qualifications: Experience and training that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. This includes using and maintaining tools and equipment, being able to read, understand, and apply instructions and other requirements related to this job; and driving and operating forklifts and performing the physical requirements of the job. Experience must be listed on your resume to receive consideration. Skills and Knowledge: Applies basic manual skills when using hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, and other hand tools to unpackage or disassemble equipment. In property utilization and disposal facilities, able to recognize a limited number of basic metals such as copper, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze. Able to compare identifying data such as article stock numbers, condition coding, and material identification plates with basic material and equipment and assign coding for further processing, acceptance, rejection, or dismantling. Applies a basic knowledge of magnetic, spark, and chemical tests to test metal components of usable equipment for salvage purposes. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
