The role youll contribute:

Provides management and leadership for the assigned departments and related duties. Responsible for maintaining compliance with the operational budget and assisting with the operational and capital budget planning. Responsible for participating in the strategic planning and goal setting for departments. Responsible for assuring the quality and scope of services provided in these areas. Provides and promotes a corporate culture that enhances the quality of care and customer service. Provides leadership to associates, responsible for building and maintaining healthy work environments. Sustains outstanding physician, patient, and employee relationships across multiple service lines and with multiple physician partners.

The value youll bring to the team:

+ Conduct a comprehensive medical forensic exam including: * Obtain informed consent. * Conduct a patient medical and forensic history. * Perform a head-to-toe assessment. * Offer and provide a detailed ano-genital exam. * Explain and complete evidence collection. * Discuss and offer testing and treatment for STIs, including HIV and pregnancy. * Complete safety assessment and discharge of the patient when appropriate. * Perform forensic photography.

+ Provide respective services supporting emotions, reinforcing autonomy.

+ Provide testimony as required in legal proceedings.

+ Demonstrate performance consistent with: * Professional Forensic Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. * The Illinois Nurse Practice Act. * Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Act (SASETA). * The mission and goals of UChicago-AdventHealth. * Policies and protocols of UChicago-AdventHealth.

+ Peer review of all medical forensic examinations by a qualified peer.

+ Proper use and management of photography equipment.

+ Must not be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol while on-call.

+ Must commit to cover minimum number of shifts, and other scheduling and on-call requirements as determined by the SANE Coordinator.

+ When on call, arrive at the facility and initiate patient care within 90 minutes of patient arrival.

+ Must have reliable transportation and phone access.

+ Complete orientation of the regional hospitals.

+ Must be present during at least 70% of program meetings and educational/procedural updates.

Qualifications

**The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:** Complete any hospital mandatory education. Required

+ One year of nursing experience Required

+ Knowledge of: Professional Forensic Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. The Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Illinois Sexual Assault Legislation, including SASETA. Fundamental nursing theories and current clinical concepts of care. Principles of growth and development. Resources for survivors of sexual assault. Special techniques including traction, foley/fox swab, toluidine blue dye, alternative light source and forensic photography.

+ Ability to: Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and good judgment. Work effectively and cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team or SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) composed of professionals from various community agencies. Communicate orally and in writing in a concise and easily understandable manner, including patient documentation and face-to-face interactions. Prioritize tasks and work effectively with complex tasks under pressure and time restraints. Collaborate with emergency room physicians and other experts when patients' needs fall outside the SANEs scope. Use computer and Epic EMR software. Must have general knowledge of pediatric sexual assault/abuse SANE protocols

+ Working knowledge of all OSHA safety and health standards relevant to the position and job duties.

+ Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required

+ Registered Nurse (RN) Required

+ Driver's License (DL) Required

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) Preferred

+ Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) Preferred

+ Trauma Nurse Specialist Certification (TNSC) Preferred

+ Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Preferred

+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) Preferred

+ Completion of an IAFN-approved SANE didactic course for age groups served (AA SANE didactic certificate). Required

+ Completion of State of Illinois SANE clinical component for age groups served (AA SANE certificate of completion or SANE-A certification). Preferred
