    JOB SUMMARY

    Responsible for designing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes and equipment to support specialized, highly engineered products and innovative technologies used in multiple industries.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Designs and implements engineering controls and safety improvements to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment in the manufacturing facility.

    + Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and maintain product quality.

    + Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

    + Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

    + Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

    + Works closely with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

    + Participates in cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.

    + Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

    + Manages capital projects from concept through implementation, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and coordination of resources to support manufacturing improvements and expansion.

    + Supports root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Solid background in CNC machining.

    • Must have understanding of Lean and Continuous improvement methodologies and be able to apply them to manufacturing processes including product assembly, cell layouts and equipment procurement.

    • Familiarity with Inventor or other CAD software.

    • Must be able to work in a team environment.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; minimum two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Background in metal machining and finishing processes. Knowledge and experience with CNC machining operations.

    Desired:

    + Project or program management certification.

    + Six Sigma/LEAN methodology certification.

    Working conditions are normal for an office and/or client site workshop or warehousing facility. The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet, however local and client sites can be unpredictable and associated safety equipment should be worn accordingly.
