    Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

     

    The Teammate Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting day-to-day continuous Teammate safety improvement for Roper St. Francis Healthcare. The Teammate Safety Specialist collaborates with key stakeholders to optimize the quality and safety culture across the healthcare system. The Specialist proficiently facilitates safety efforts and coaches’ others in the development of safety improvement with emphasis on root cause identification, process redesign and measurement, providing direction to departments on the planning of a systematic, organization–wide approach to continuous safety improvement with the goals of zero harm and Just Culture.

    Essential Job Functions

    + Advocates for safety by participating in safety initiatives at the facility and unit level. Continuously looks for opportunities for safety improvement and developing action plans to address. Measures success of these action plans and creates the records and follow-up metrics for each activity; reassesses approach to maximize success.

    + Investigation of Teammate Safety Incidents and leads casual analyses, such as root cause analyses and compact cause analyses for teammate safety incidents.

    + Conduct regular rounding at RSFH facilities to identify and address any opportunities for safety improvementand monitor integrity of lead radiation shielding PPE. Respond timely to concerns or requests for assistance from teammates or managers regarding teammate safety issues or needs. Review and trend teammate injuries to identify opportunities for improvement.

    + Develops education and training programs addressing Teammate Safety based on needs assessment. Coordinates training for lift equipment for all new employees in collaboration with Professional Development Department.

    + Reports teammate safety trends and events to leaders and regulatory agencies as needed. Prepares narratives and statistical reports pertaining to teammate safety and dosimetry monitoring programs. Reviews, evaluates, and approves radioactive material users license and registration applications where appropriate.

    Licensing/Certification

    + Clinical or professional licensure as applicable

    Education

    + Bachelor’s degree or must be obtained within one year of employment in this role (required)

    + Master’s Degree (preferred)

    Work Experience

    + RN or licensed patient care professional with 2 years of direct patient care experience and demonstrated knowledge of safety practices (required)

    + Work experience in healthcare quality, safety, or process improvement (preferred)
