OPERATIONS PERFORMANCE ENGINEER AT PRIMEFLIGHT
The Operations Performance Engineer reports to the Director of Operations Performance and is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across our cargo handling network. This role focuses on identifying performance gaps, analyzing operational workflows, implementing standardized best practices, and partnering with field leadership to ensure consistency, efficiency, and safety. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial engineering, logistics, or process improvement, and thrives in a high-intensity, results-driven environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across the cargo handling network, using Lean, Six Sigma, and other performance engineering tools (DMAIC, value stream mapping, root cause analysis to design and implement sustainable improvements)
• Conduct time studies, capacity modeling, and workflow analysis to identify and resolve operational inefficiencies
• Develop and implement standardized processes, SOPs, and visual management tools across multiple locations
• Partner with station leadership and training teams to drive adoption and ensure sustainability of best practices
• Monitor KPIs to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and validate the impact of process improvements
• Support new station launches and expansions by designing optimal facility layouts, staffing models, and process flows
• Facilitate cross-functional improvement projects across Operations, Safety, Training, and Technology
• Create and maintain process documentation, job aids, and training materials to promote standard work
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on cargo operations workflow optimization and labor productivity
• Travel to stations as needed to support implementation, audits, and frontline engagement
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
• 18 years of age or older
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (required)
• 3+ years of experience in operations engineering, process improvement, or similar role, ideally in an aviation or logistics environment
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent (preferred)
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and process mapping tools
• Ability to translate data into actionable operational insights
• Strong understanding of WMS, data systems, and operational analytics
• Self-starter comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence frontline teams and senior leadership
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with cargo handling, distribution centers, or time-critical logistics environments
• Familiarity with high-velocity e-commerce logistics processes
• Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
• Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
• Pass a background check and drug screen
• Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
• Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
• Willingness to travel >50% to support network operations
