Position Summary:

The Machine Support Technician assists in machine shop activities.

What will your day look like? At Aerotech, you will:

+ Removes burrs of excess metal from and reduces sharp surfaces of precision machined parts

+ Must be able to recognize and use hand tools such as a file, tri-blade, drill, etc.

+ Operation of CNC & manual bandsaw

+ Matching blueprints to raw materials and travelers per the correct part number and revision

+ Basic blueprint reading

+ Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks

+ Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas for machining

+ Reclaims metal chip bins from machining centers.

+ Assists in regular inventory cycle counts

Additional duties:

+ Responsible for respirator care and maintenance

+ Refilling of machine lubricant reservoirs

+ Basic upkeep of shop organization

+ As assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

+ Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

+ Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization

+ Ability to write simple correspondence

+ Knowledge to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

+ Skilled at applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

+ Basic computer skills

Minimum Qualifications:

+ High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

+ One to three months of related experience and/or training in a machine shop or similar environment

+ Must be able to recognize and use hand tools such as a file, tri-blade, drill, etc

+ Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

+ One to three months of related experience and/or training
