Required Skills:

Production Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test software services to ensure optimal performance and capacity for growth.

2. Own back-end data warehouse services, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, and infrastructure components to ensure services run without incident.

3. Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the problems in real time in highly complex software systems.

4. Serve as escalation contact for service incidents.

5. Troubleshoot production linux systems and propose scalable solutions.

6. While troubleshooting, look for opportunities to improve our systems, services and processes.

7. Requires a Master's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field or a related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.

9. 1. Operating Unix/Linux systems at Scale

10. 2. Proven expertise in TCP/IP networking stack and network management tools (DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, SNMP, NFS) for efficient network operations

11. 3. Coding proficiency in one or more of the following higher-level programming languages: Rust, Python, C++, or Java

12. 4. Software Design Principles, frameworks and APIs

13. 5. Performing 'guerilla capacity planning' for internet service architectures

14. 6. Designing and troubleshooting complex web scale system architectures

15. 7. Configuring and maintaining applications using at least one of the following: web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems, or messaging systems

16. 8. Relational Databases including MySQL

17. 9. Storage Systems including NFS

18. 10. Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues ranging from low-level hardware issues to large scale failures within datacenter clusters

19. 11. Utilizing high performance query engines (Presto or Spark) for big data

20. 12. Distributed systems design, implementation, and maintenance

21. 13. Implementing and maintaining system architectures at massive scale (1M+ systems)

22. 14. Incidence response of production systems, including participating in on-call rotations.

Public Compensation:

$224,508/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
