In addition, MercyOne North Iowa is a teaching institution. We conduct a Family Medicine Residency, Internal Medicine Residency, Cardiology Fellowship, Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship, PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and a School of Radiologic Technology. MercyOne North Iowa is a clinical training site for approximately 500 students from 127 different colleges enrolled in programs for medical laboratory, nursing, paramedic, rehabilitation, medical assistants, pastoral services, physicians and many other medical fields.

    Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Specialty Clinic RN at our Medical Oncology clinic

     

    As a Specialty Clinic Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will Accept responsibility and accountability for the delivery of care through the use of the nursing process. Directs and guides patient and family education. Cares for all types of oncology/hematology and related patients in Medical Oncology while maintaining professional nursing standards. Practices nursing within the Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa professional nursing practice plan.

     

    The Clinic Registered Nurse is responsible for managing nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance, and restoration of patient's health and wellness within their scope of practice. The Clinic Registered Nurse will direct and support nursing/clinical personnel providing patient care within the facility as assigned by the Clinic Manager. This includes the evaluation, revision, and implementation of clinical policies and procedures related to the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care, maintenance of clinical staff personnel and education records, in-services and performs Clinical Staff functions.

    General Requirements:

    + Clinic Nurse is a professional nursing position that provides quality patient care and is a patient advocate

    + Knowledge of management and nursing organizational theory to direct the operation of clinical staff.

    + Knowledge of the principles and practice of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff.

    + Knowledge of medical safety practices and standard requirements to evaluate existing standards and implement new procedures that are age specific...

    + Skills in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing.

    + Skills in preparing records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.

    + Skills in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations.

    + Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.

    + Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.

    + Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and direct the work of others.

    + Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.A sense of and willingness to accept responsibility and to be accountable for own actions.

    Education:

    + Graduate of a school of nursing is required.

    + A current Iowa License as a Registered Nurse is required.

    + Prefer minimum of 4 years of experience in a health care setting, inpatient, outpatient, home care, hospice or clinic experience, all possess transferable skills or knowledge valuable to the Cancer Center.

    + Must provide proof of **Basic Life Support** (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

    + Must complete and successfully pass Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) courses: Cancer Basics and Chemotherapy Biotherapy: Fundamentals of Administration courses after 9 months of employment, must successfully complete the ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate course, and renew every 2 years.

    + Strongly preferred OCN certification within 2 years of employment.

    + Completes **Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse** requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
