We’re looking for a mid- to senior-level digital design professional who thrives in Civil 3D and is ready to make an impact on meaningful projects. If you’re someone who enjoys blending technical precision with creative problem-solving, this role is for you.

How You Will Contribute

-Translate design intent into intelligent 3D models and detailed drawings—ranging from moderately complex to highly technical.

-Collaborate with engineers and project teams to bring concepts to life using Civil 3D and CADD tools.

-Review manufacturer and fabricator prints to support design accuracy.

-Mentor junior modelers by providing sketches, layout guidance, and technical direction.

-Perform material calculations and apply engineering principles to support design decisions.

-Ensure model integrity and quality through cross-checks, layering standards, and QA/QC compliance.

-Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams as the Intelligent -Modeling lead on projects.

-Contribute to early-stage planning and support field assignments when needed.

-Handle technical support tasks like plotting, file management, and preparing drawing packages.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and intelligent modeling.

- 9 years of related experience.

- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills and Abilities:

-Excellent communication skills with strict attention to detail. -Demonstrates ability to be a flexible team player and have the ability to adapt to changing requirements.

-Possesses software experience in the use of Microsoft Office for design related tasks.

-Advanced working knowledge of the intelligent modeling/CADD drafting commands.

-Solid working knowledge of intelligent modeling technologies.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information:

CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
