Position Summary/Description:
Assist the head coach with all aspects of the Women’s Rowing program including but not limited to: practice competition activities, player skill development, recruiting, directing and implementing plans for daily practices and competitions, organizing and administering clinics, etc., and overall administrative tasks within the operation of the program. Must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified students.
The position is responsible for:
Coaching athletes and assisting with overall student-athlete development.
Developing inexperienced athletes.
Document all recruiting contacts and evaluations per the NCAA guidelines.
Understand NCAA manual and rules and practice compliance with these rules as pertain to recruiting activities.
Manage a recruiting load (list of recruits) and remain in constant engagement via email, text, phone calls, video calls, etc.
Plan and conduct team travel logistics to rowing regattas, practices and other visits.
Assist with team time management and compliance.
Assist with team social media as it pertains to recruiting and the online presence of Carolina Rowing.
Plan and execute Official and Unofficial Visits to UNC , including all forms and associated paperwork.
Responsible for identifying, researching and evaluating rowing recruits domestically and internationally.
Education and Experience:
2-5 years of coaching experience in an intercollegiate environment. Prefer experience at a Division I level or competitive collegiate rowing experience.
Essential Skills:
Knowledge of and familiarity NCAA rules and regulations. Good organizational, interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary. Must possess strong organizational, administrative and computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Word and Excel. A valid driver’s license required. Interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary. Working knowledge of water safety regulations.
