Assistant Chief Engineer (Building Technician IV)

**Location:** Baltimore MD – 1 building at Canton Crossing (Waterfront area) and 1 building directly adjacent to Camden Yards stadium

**Overview:** We're looking for a **Building Technician IV** **_(Assistant Chief Engineer_** ) to take charge of day-to-day building operations, ensuring all systems are running smoothly while providing guidance to a team of technicians. This is a hands-on role.

What You’ll Do:

+ **Lead & Support:** Oversee a team of Building Technicians (I, II, & III) and provide guidance on maintenance, repairs, and installations for commercial building systems.

+ **Hands-On Troubleshooting & Repairs:** Support the Chief Building Engineer by leading the charge in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, chillers, and more.

+ **Training & Development:** Mentor and train lower-level technicians, helping them gain expertise in building systems.

+ **Manage Budgets & Expenditures:** Review work orders, control expenditures within budget guidelines, and provide recommendations for capital expenditures to the Chief Building Technician.

+ **Maintain Building Systems:** Regularly inspect, calibrate, and test building systems to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications:

**Education:** High school diploma or equivalent, with additional coursework in HVAC, electricity, plumbing, or related fields.

+ **REQUIRED Licensing & Certification** **:**

+ **Universal CFC certification.**

+ **State Certified Journeyman’s license or equivalent (Master’s license preferred).**

+ **MD 1st grade stationary license (or equivalent, is required).**

Technical Expertise:

+ Strong knowledge of all building systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical) and building automation systems (BMS/BAS, SCADA).

+ Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and control complex building systems.

+ Proficiency in reading electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings and internal wiring schematics.

Skills:

+ Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to adapt to new software and work with asset management systems.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

**Experience:** Minimum of **8 years** in relevant building systems as a senior service technician with a minimum of with **3+ years** experience providing work direction to others, in a leadership or supervisory role.
