    Job Description

    The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot, provide training, and make workflow recommendations.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.

    + Record maintenance data and perform decontamination processes.

    + Update patient information accurately.

    + Collect and store specimens following established procedures.

    + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.

    + Interpret and understand all physician orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as per test order requirements.

    + Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.

    + Package specimens properly for transport.

    + Store specimen samples at required temperatures and label them accurately.

    + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department training sessions.

    + Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to callers.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

    + Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + 0-2 years of relevant experience.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in phlebotomy, medical procedures, customer service, and blood drawing.

    + Ability to handle drug screens, billing information, and specimen processing.

    + Experience working with a diverse patient demographic from ages 18 to geriatrics.

    + Ability to perform 20-25 draws per day.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and operates Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Training will be provided at the account location. You will work alongside one other person. The role requires working in a fast-paced environment, handling blood draws, and managing patient information efficiently.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.83/hr.
