Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations to enhance our operations.

Responsibilities

+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate as needed.

+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, ensuring proper explanation of the process to patients.

+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles effectively.

+ Understand and adhere to physicians' orders, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.

+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order, ensuring correct procedure compliance.

+ Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

+ Package specimens for transport, storing them at required temperatures and following protocols to maintain specimen integrity.

+ Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

+ Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries regarding laboratory results.

Essential Skills

+ Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

+ Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

+ High School Diploma or GED.

+ 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.

+ Customer service skills.

+ Sample/specimen processing experience.

+ Ability to perform 40-50 draws per day.

Work Environment

The position is located at a patient service center. The facility consists of four draw rooms and an OTS room, where you will work collaboratively with a team. The role requires 40-50 draws per day and involves training with the site coordinator for approximately 2-3 weeks. The work schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM. The environment emphasizes punctuality, customer friendliness, teamwork, and consistent attendance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
