For Water Street Mission to fulfill our mission and purpose, it is critical for all staff to participate in the development and maintenance of a healthy Christian Community. Even as some positions have minimal direct contact with guests, each staff member has an essential role in forming and maintaining Christian community. The love of Christ, evidenced in our Water Street community, is the real impetus for change with our guests.
Summary: Warehouse Support assists in safe, organized, timely and efficient pick up, intake, storage, and movement of inventory in the warehouse, working with relevant WSM staff, volunteers, guests, vendors, and donors towards the above goals.
FLSA: Seasonal ending in December/Part Time, Non-Exempt
All Water Street Mission Staff must be:
1. Willing to sign the Water Street Missions' Statement of Faith
2. A current member or regular attendee of a local church.
3. Able to fully support the core values and philosophy of ministry held by Water Street Mission
Essential Functions:
Culture and Values
• Share the Good News of Jesus Christ in words and actions with people we serve, communicating hope and dignity.
• Walk alongside fellow WSM staff in Christian community as we journey toward maturity.
• Encourage restoration in the lives of coworkers and guests, recognizing we are each restored by God to become restorers.
• Work in full coordination with other WSM staff at all times to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests.
• Support the goals and objectives of the Director of Facilities in a manner that reflects the values and ministry philosophy of Water Street Mission.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Execute safe, organized, timely and efficient pick up, intake, storage and deployment of warehouse inventory, coordinating with Truck Driver, Kitchen, Outreach, and Facilities to accomplish those tasks.
Provide assistance and serve as back-up for truck and van pickups of routine and food drive donations
Load, unload, move and store donated and purchased items, operating forklift and other WSM equipment as needed.
Interact with donors, vendors, staff, volunteers and guests in a friendly, positive and professional manner.
Monitor condition, organization and flow of warehouse and inventory; communicate problems to be solved and possible solutions to Distribution Logistics Director; work according to his/her direction to create and implement solutions.
Pulling requisitioned orders from central supply
Sorting incoming donations
Assisting with unloading food truck
Present a positive public image in dress, language and Christian testimony.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills: Warehouse experience essential, High school diploma or GED preferred. Driver's license with good driving record.
Preferred Skills: Forklift experience
Reports to: Distribution Logistics Director
Key Internal Relationships: Facilities Team; VP, Logistics & Operations, Outreach and Food Services
