At Fairbanks Morse Defense, we’re driven by a legacy of powering mission-critical operations around the world. We’re looking for a Senior Field Service Technician (SrFST)—a trusted technical expert, leader, and customer liaison—to support and service some of the most critical mechanical and electrical systems in use today.
In this dynamic and hands-on role, you’ll take the lead in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing complex equipment including diesel engines, electrical control systems, cranes, elevators, and more. You’ll work independently, provide guidance to junior technicians, and serve as the go-to expert for both our internal teams and valued defense customers.
What You’ll Do:
+ Serve as the lead technician for major service and overhaul projects.
+ Troubleshoot and repair complex systems independently with minimal supervision.
+ Train customers and junior technicians on proper equipment use and maintenance.
+ Collaborate with engineering and technical teams on system improvements.
+ Deliver prompt, professional service that exceeds customer expectations.
+ Maintain meticulous documentation of service calls, safety compliance, and project reports.
What You Bring:
+ Experience & Education: High school diploma or GED required. Preferred: Associate degree or equivalent military/industry experience with diesel engines and control systems.
+ Technical Mastery: Strong mechanical aptitude, advanced diagnostic skills, and proficiency with diesel engines, PLCs, pneumatics, and electronic control systems.
+ Leadership: Ability to mentor others, lead field teams, and make real-time decisions under pressure.
+ Communication: Clear, professional communicator with strong documentation and reporting skills.
+ Certifications: Valid driver’s license and U.S. Passport (or ability to obtain). Ability to meet NOFORN security requirements (U.S. citizenship required).

Travel & Physical Requirements:
+ Travel up to 75%, including short-notice assignments (domestic & international).
+ Must be physically capable of lifting 35+ lbs., climbing, crawling, and working in confined spaces.
