    _*Minnesota IT Services may be filling two (2) IT Quality Analyst/Tester positions from this one posting. All applicants will be considered for both vacancies._

     

    Step into a pivotal role with Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) at the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) as a Level 4 IT Advanced Quality Analyst/Tester. Bring your advanced skills in information systems software testing, quality assurance, and quality control to our dynamic team, where you’ll ensure both the integrity of the code and the outcomes of our applications.

     

    As an IT Advanced Quality Analyst/Tester you will have a unique opportunity to work on a complex, large-scale project that impacts the state’s new Paid Leave Minnesota initiative. You’ll promote industry-leading testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects within our software systems, ensuring the highest standards of quality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + **Advanced-Level QA/Testing:** Perform advanced quality assurance and testing tasks, ensuring thorough scrutiny of both code quality and application outcomes.

    + **Collaborative Consulting:** Act as a consultant for quality assurance needs, collaborating with business representatives and development staff on system changes and implementation planning.

    + **Leadership and Mentoring:** Guide, consult, and collaborate with development team members. Mentor and coach less experienced QA Analysts, recommending training paths and curriculum.

    + **Complex Projects:** Tackle duties that are typically more intricate and expansive than those managed by less experienced QA staff, requiring minimal direction, coaching, and mentoring.

    As a Quality Assurance Analyst/Tester you will coordinate with a QA Lead and team to define test strategy and write test scripts for the complex business processes within Paid Leave. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and refine your abilities to develop automated scripting in Playwright to cut down on manual regression testing. You will also serve as a mentor for other less experienced staff in a variety of test environments.

     

    This position requires an employee to be onsite at 520 Lafayette Rd, St. Paul** **, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

    Minimum Qualifications

    This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience in performing IT quality analysis functions.

    Experience must include:

    + Testing large complex systems with multiple workstreams requiring multiple levels of collaboration and coordination of testing cycles while maintaining quality standards established by the QA Lead.

    + Comprehensive knowledge of software QA/QC methodologies in waterfall and agile, process, and technologies with respect to manual, integration, and performance/stress testing areas. Experience with Ruby on Rails and Salesforce testing is added value.

    + Test Management process and tools such as Jira/qTest/ADO and knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner or JMeter).

    + Sufficient software development knowledge to understand basic logic and functions for testing large scale web applications, with multiple programming languages and software development technologies including the JAVA stack and .NET stack tools and SQL.

    + Advanced Defect Identification skills-- capable of identifying defects from the test cases run and other means not specifically documented

    + Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

    + Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

    A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience testing web applications built on .NET or Java frameworks including hands-on API testing using tools such as Postman or SoapUI.

    + Experience with automation: planning, writing/coding/scripting, execution, analysis of results, and debugging failures. Automation with Playwright a plus.

    + Understanding of Section 508 accessibility requirements and web accessibility testing

    + Proven ability to learn and utilize multiple systems and complex software

    + Proven ability to understand inter-relationships of data and programs

    + Proven ability to use common MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, etc. Experience with Ruby on Rails and Salesforce testing is added value.

    + Software and software system security concepts and appropriate testing techniques
