    Description

    Quality Assurance Assistant helps process, inspect, test and verify incoming, in-process and returned parts and materials meet visual, dimensional, mechanical and/or electrical specifications. To verify quantities of incoming materials to match up with shipping/packing list and purchase orders. To create data entries to record various process activities.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Set up, operate, program and interpret results of a variety of electronic and/or mechanical monitoring and measuring devices. In this area these devices include but are not limited to:

    + Coordinate Measuring Machine

    + Optical Comparator

    + Digibridge

    + Non-contact Measuring System

    + Micrometers

    + Calipers

    + Digital Height Indicators

    + Plug/Pin and Ring Gauges

    + Threaded Plug/Pin and Threaded Ring Gauges

    + Microscope

    + Electrical Meters

    + Receive and verify part quantities with purchase orders.

    + Obtain inspection requirements from PC for product specifications, part drawings and QC work instructions.

    + Inspect all types of incoming and in-process parts and materials for quality conformance. Interpret and record data to determine if product passes or fails requirements based on product specifications, part drawings and QC work instructions.

    + Analyze and verify chemical analysis from QC instructions with industry standards.

    + Work from, understand, and adhere to controlled written instructions that specify the methods and conditions required for:

    + Incoming material inspection

    + In-process part inspection/auditing

    + Returned materials

    + Maintain accurate and legible quality records. These may include but are not limited to incoming inspection reports, travelers, shrinkage/scrap reporting, product traceability, shelf life, test/inspection status and returned materials.

    + Create first article inspection reports on new and revised parts.

    + Understand and use ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 sampling plans when specified in work instructions.

    + Log final inspection data, returned materials, and customer-specific forms into the appropriate reports.

    + Perform work under minimal supervision.

    + Coordinate and adjust schedule of inspection of parts in an orderly and timely manner.

    SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Assist supervisor, engineers and managers as requested to clarify non-conformances and potential issues with parts.

    + Perform data/transaction entry on PRMS manufacturing system and PC spreadsheets.

    + Maintain IMQA inspection report retention files in an orderly and accurate manner.

    + Maintain clean and orderly work area.

    + Understand and maintain an ISO9001/AS9100 area.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned.

     

    This Position Guide is to be supplemented by written goals, plans and standards of performance as approved by the appropriate manager.

    Qualifications

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Must have good knowledge of basic math.

    + Must be able to understand and operate various monitoring and measuring devices as listed above.

    + Must have PC knowledge (MS Word and Excel)

    + Must be able to understand written work instructions & product specifications to accurately interpret and legibly record data.

    + Must have good vision to inspect product, operate equipment and perform tests. Visual testing is required.

    + Must be agile and dexterous with the ability to work in various positions. Job requires frequent standing, lifting, stooping, bending, grasping, pinching, and reaching motions requiring use of two hands.

    + Gloves, finger cots and safety glasses may be required in certain situations.
