Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Metrology Operator to join our Quality team. This role is ideal for candidates with strong foundational metrology skills who aspire to grow into a CMM Programmer role. You'll begin by performing routine inspections and calibrations, and as you gain experience, you'll transition into programming and operating advanced CMM equipment using PC-DMIS software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform dimensional inspections using standard precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gages, etc.)
• Conduct calibrations on measuring equipment per established standards and procedures
• Maintain and document calibration records, ensuring traceability
• Identify and report measurement discrepancies or equipment issues
• Support internal audits and quality initiatives as needed
• Maintain lab cleanliness and organization

Requirements
• High school diploma equivalent
• Experience with inspection tools and measuring techniques in a machining or manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems is highly desirable
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in computer usage and basic metrology software
• A certificate in mechanical/dimensional metrology or equivalent is a plus
• Willingness to grow into a CMM Programming role
Growth Path - Training and Development Toward CMM Programmer:
• Learn to operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS software
• Assist in writing and editing programs for new parts, fixtures, and product revisions
• Collaborate with the engineering and quality teams to interpret GD&T from customer drawings
• Gradually assume responsibility for writing instruction prompts and integrating CMM into the inspection process
Preferred but Not Required (Training Provided):
• Experience with PC-DMIS software
• Exposure to CMM equipment and/or automated inspection systems
• Programming experience in a dimensional metrology environment
Career Development
This role is structured to transition into a CMM Programmer position. Candidates demonstrating strong technical aptitude, initiative, and teamwork will be supported through training and mentorship to grow into programming responsibilities within the Metrology department.
