The Director of Experiential Learning plays a vital leadership role in advancing the School of Business’s
mission to prepare students for successful, socially responsible careers through real-world learning
experiences. Reporting to the Dean and collaborating closely with the Associate Dean, academic
advisors, department chairs, faculty, staff, and students, the Director is responsible for developing,
managing, and expanding high-impact experiential learning programs. These include the LEAP Program,
service-learning projects, and internship opportunities that span a semester or an entire academic year.
The Director also cultivates and maintains strategic partnerships with the industry, nonprofit, and
government sectors to ensure that students have access to relevant and enriching applied learning
experiences.
Responsibilities include:
• Design, implement, and manage experiential learning programs that foster student
development, enhance academic learning, and promote career readiness.
• Oversee, promote, and expand the LEAP Program, the school's co-curricular activities
program for business students, with a focus on developing students' career competencies
through workshops, mentoring, and hands-on learning experiences.
• Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with corporate, nonprofit, and government
partners to create experiential learning opportunities, including internships, service
projects, guest speakers, mentorships, and field visits.
• Manage the planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of short-term, semesterlong,
and year-long internships, embedded internships, and service-learning experiences
that offer real-world experience aligned with students’ academic and career interests.
• Identify and build relationships with mentorship initiatives and design opportunities to help
connect students with mentors.
• Track and maintain records and databases of student engagement in experiential learning
activities, including tracking post-graduate outcomes.
• Evaluate program effectiveness through data collection and analysis to guide ongoing
improvement.
• Oversee the daily operations of experiential learning programs, including budget
management, resource allocation, and reporting, and assist with grant and fundraising
efforts to support programs and initiatives.
• Attend and represent the School of Business at external events, conferences, and
community engagements. Act as a liaison with external partners and promote the value of
experiential learning both within and outside the institution.
• Support accreditation initiatives and institutional reporting by documenting and presenting
the outcomes of experiential learning activities to faculty, administrators, and external
stakeholders.
• Generate quarterly and annual reports that showcase program growth and student success
stories.
• Supervise junior or clerical staff
• Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of six (6) years of experience in higher education, career services, human resources, or a
related field is required.
Experience in managing employer relationships and creating professional development opportunities for
college students or young professionals.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of students,
employers, and campus stakeholders effectively.
Technical Proficiency:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and survey tools
• Experience with database management platforms such as Airtable or similar systems
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
As a senior staff member in a large academic or administrative department, division, or school, manages operations and administration, participates in planning and setting priorities, and oversees related projects to ensure their success.
- Works with management to create short- and long-term business plans, including operational, organization, and financial aspects.
- Works with management and others to develop and implement operating policies and procedures.
- Manages the ongoing financial, operational, and staffing activities of the department.
- Manages operating budget and performs analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
- Oversees legal, safety, fiscal, and other compliance requirements.
- Oversees facilities, technology, and materials utilized in the department, coordinating with appropriate Campus services.
- Works with other Campus or University units to coordinate and plan fund-raising, grants, marketing, communications, and outreach activities.
- Independently carries out a portfolio of responsibilities under the department's purview, such as managing committees, securing approvals, and providing communications.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience. **$127,303 - $132,248**
