    San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based privately held company, has been in business for over 40 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear.

    Position

    SAS has an opening for a full time Regional Class A Truck Driver with a Hazmat Endorsement. This position requires the safe transport of product from San Antonio to other warehouses within a 200 mile radius. This is a morning shift Monday through Friday. Approximately three overnight trips per year will be required for deliveries to SAS Retail locations, but otherwise the person in this position will be home nightly.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Drive a 18 wheeler tractor with 57’ trailers for regional deliveries

    + Ensures all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g. DOT electronic logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports and pre and post-trip reports are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis, ensures all invoices are accurate and turned in daily and all damages and shortages are reported promptly).

    + Maintains and safely operates all assigned equipment, including but not limited to hand cart, pallets, load bars, SLS unit, and personal protective equipment.

    + Assists with loading and unloading product, supplies, and production materials between SAS facilities

    + Operates forklifts and electric pallet jacks in the performance of loading and unloading, and delivering to different departments

    + Observes all rules, speed limits, and practice safe driving at all times

    + Occasionally, assist with other duties in the Transportation shop such as servicing vehicles, washing and fueling vehicles, including delivering and picking up vehicles from different service providers

    + Communicates with management team regarding any deviations to route, trailer or loading issues and/or customer or product issues

    + Exhibits regular and predictable attendance.

    + Other duties as assigned by Management

    Job Qualifications

    + Able to drive standard transmission commercial tractor

    + Must pass a background check, drug screening, and a DMV check

    + Good communication skills

    + Must be able to read orders and follow safety regulations

    + Must have a safe driving record

    + Knowledge of: DOT regulations; Hazmat guidelines; Safe lifting and delivery practices

    Physical Requirements

    + Physical labor is often necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including reaching, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, hearing, and engaging in repetitive motions

    + Excellent vision to inspect material and products for defects

    + Must be able to lift between 50 and 60 lbs and move over 100 lbs of boxes and materials around on a dolly

     

    Education & Experience Requirements

     

    + Prior experience driving Semi’s with 57’ Trailers

    + Valid Texas Driver’s License

    + Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat Endorsement required

    + Forklift experience (preferred)

    + Good driving record

    + Minimum 22 years of age

    + Minimum 1 year commercial driving experience driving 18 wheelers

    + Meet all DOT driver qualifications

    + Skill in: driving over long distances, over a variety of terrains and in varying weather conditions, communicating with customers; solving problems; delivering product

    + Ability to: drive a tractor-trailer unit both in the day and at night in a variety of traffic and weather conditions and remain alert and aware of surroundings; meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company
