Description
Reports to the Director of Academic Support Services. Position includes hours on weekdays, evenings, weekends and may extend to other campus sites or external events off campus. Hours may vary, but are limited to a maximum of 10 - 12 hours per week.
Examples of Duties
+ Schedules approximately six exhibitions throughout the year
+ Oversees the collection and curating of artwork for all exhibits, including the annual spring student exhibition
+ Networks to identify artists for shows including solo, group and student exhibitions
+ Prepares promotional materials for exhibitions including information for press releases, creating labels, show cards, flyers, and connecting the gallery with college/community publications and media
+ Receives, curates, hangs, and lights exhibitions in an effort to best present and secure the artwork
+ Arranges, collects, labels, and prepares the student exhibition/competition
+ Annually holds an art advisory board meeting
+ Oversees art students who are completing their Capstone project
+ Trains work study/student workers to assist in gallery operations
+ Schedules, shops and caters gallery receptions
+ Arranges artists' talks and access for classes and outside groups to lead a discussion and use the art as teaching topic
+ Works with library staff to coordinate artwork drop off and pick up
+ Maintains college's gallery website by communicating exhibit information and photos to library staff
+ Promotes exhibits to the college and community
+ Maintains gallery space, gallery storage, and office area
+ Maintains library art displays at all campus libraries
+ Must be able to lift and properly handle and store sizeable works of art
+ Related duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
+ Applicants must have a BFA or BA minimum, and preferred to have a concentration in the Visual
Arts and/or Museum Studies/Curating.
+ Proficient in MS Word and Google Suite
+ Excellent interpersonal skills

Eligible part-time employees will be enrolled into the DCRP (Defined Contribution Retirement Plan) pension (https://www.nj.gov/treasury/pensions/pension-active-dcrp.shtml) . Employees contribute 5% of their base salary and the college contributes 3% of base salary. Investment options are managed through Prudential Retirement. Life insurance benefits through DCRP are payable to the beneficiary at 1.5X the member's salary.
