    We are pleased to announce openings for Senior Missile Defense Research and Development (R&D) Engineers who will join our elite R&D team in Huntsville, Alabama creating a rapid digital engineering capability for emerging Missile Defense applications.

    Responsibilities:

    The Missile Defense R&D Engineer will develop digital modeling techniques using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) to apply emerging technology to the challenge of defeating advanced missile threats in all phases of flight. R&D Engineers will analyze and model multiple sensor and weapon systems in quick succession and spanning multiple domains of physics. As part of this process, the R&D engineer will create and integrate digital models for (a) state of the art weapons and sensor systems for missile defeat, (b) advanced algorithms spanning multiple domains of physics (RF, electro-optics, orbital mechanics), and (c) tracking and estimation.

     

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate technical ingenuity, intellectual curiosity, aptitude for self-directed work, and clear communication. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to demonstrate a history of seeking out, identifying, and capitalizing on learning opportunities.

     

    You’ll be

     

    + Working with a small, agile digital engineering team to analyze the complex problem of neutralizing missile attacks with highly advanced threats in all phases of flight

    + Quickly becoming familiar with various sensors, platforms, and algorithms, integrating them into an AFSIM simulation framework to assess impact on overall mission success

    + Rapidly producing decision-quality data to support high-level system designs implemented in rigorous Model-Based Systems Engineering approaches

    + Creating simulation environments that capture the complexity of the missile defense kill chain, including detection, tracking, discrimination, engagement planning, and intercept.

    + Performing Monte Carlo analysis, performance trade studies, and sensitivity analysis to evaluate system effectiveness and survivability.

    + Collaborating with systems engineers, software developers, and algorithm specialists to ensure seamless integration of models and simulation tools.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree minimum in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or similar technical role

    + Experience with modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, AFSIM, STK, or similar).

    + Proven experience developing or applying physics-based models and algorithms.

    + Seven years of full-time professional experience between modeling and simulation, mission analysis, and military operations (air defense / missile defense preferred)

    + Must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret Security Clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + End-to-end mission modeling and simulation for air/missile defense systems

    + Threat modeling including UAS, cruise missiles, and emerging asymmetric threats

    + Python/Matlab experience

    + Proficiency in written and oral communication skills to independently develop technical white papers, briefings, etc., to communicate complex technical concepts to the customer and stakeholders

    + Familiarity with AFSIM simulation platform

    + Familiarity with tracking and sensor management

    + Familiarity with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems

    + Familiarity with the Missile Defense System (MDS)

    + Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning
