Position Description:
Performs specialized work in conducting original research. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions:
Will assist with assessing the viability of using reclaimed produced water as an alternative water source for regional forage crops, with evaluations being performed in greenhouse and field settings. The research will focus on assessing the impact of reclaimed produced water from oil and gas production on plant production, forage nutritive value, and soil health.
This is a two-year position with an available start date of September 1, 2025; however, the start date can be flexible. This is a full-time, full benefits eligible position with a one year initial appointment, renewable for an additional year contingent on performance.
+ Plant, maintain, and harvest forage pots/plots in greenhouse and field conditions.
+ Monthly soil collections using hydraulic probe.
+ Assist with carrying out plant measurements and sample analyses.
+ Transport equipment and supplies to and from research site(s).
+ Maintenance/upkeep of research sites and equipment.
+ Ability to work independently and as a team member, manage research logistics, and supervise field/lab personnel.
Detail oriented and able to maintain records.
Regular travel to field sites and overnight stays.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience driving trucks and pulling a trailer. Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills.
+ Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Crop Science, Botany, Natural Resources or closely related discipline.
+ Valid U.S. driver's license.
+ Be able to lift 50 pounds.
+ Experience with basic trade skills (plumbing, mechanicing, welding)
+ Drive trucks with loaded trailer
- Regular travel to field site(s).
+ Ability to operate tractors and various implements.
+ Hard working and driven individual.
+ Capacity to perform field work in a hot, arid region.
+ Decisive critical thinker.
+ Good oral and written communication skills.
